For more than 15 years, Classic Men’s Wear has provided affordable clothing to men and boys in the North Miami community for every occasion.
It all started in 1981 when Monfred Joseph came to the United States to pursue the “American Dream” of having his own business and providing for his family. Monfred had a raw talent in fashion designing for men’s clothing. Since in his late teens, Monfred started making men clothing for his family and friends. In 1975, at the age of 23, Monfred opened his first men’s clothing store in Haiti where he provided all custom made men’s clothing. After 6 years of managing a successful business, Monfred decided to move to the United States for a better life experience.
Monfred’s goal was always to own a store where he can serve his community. He opened his second men’s clothing store in the heart of Miami known as “Little Haiti”. The store was called La Difference Tailor Store and was opened from 1986 to 1995.
Monfred was never afraid to take a risk and always wanted to do better for himself and his family. As his clientele expanded and the business grew more successful, Monfred wanted to relocate and move the store Downtown Miami in 1995. Unfortunately, the parking challenges forced Monfred to close the business two years later. Being the highly motivated entrepreneur that he was, Monfred kept in contact with his clients and provided alterations at his home with the intentions to reopen another store.
In 2001, Monfred and his clients were thrilled of the opening of his 4th store in city of Miami Shores. The store was called, Monfred the Tailor. Monfred kept that store open for 8 years but he was always looking for prime location to take the business at a higher level. Finally, in the summer of 2008, Monfred relocated his clothing store from Miami Shores to downtown North Miami. He renamed the store, Classic Men’s Wear by Monfred the Tailor.
Monfred Joseph ran Classic Men’s Wear successfully for 10 years along with his wife Immacula Joseph. With his recent passing in June 2018, the family has appointed Monfred’s oldest daughter, Fredline Joseph-Burley, as the Vice President General Manager of Classic Men’s Wear and all affiliated businesses. Fredline has 18 years of Senior Executive Management Experience in the retail industry. “My goal is to continue with my father’s legacy of serving the community while providing excellent service and great value.”
